Diablo Valley College is one of the largest community colleges in California with approximately 20,000 students, locating approximately 25 miles east of San Francisco in Contra Costa County. DVC ranks consistently as one of the most successful transfer institutions in California and also offers a wide range of highly respected occupational programs leading to certificates or degrees. DVC Art Gallery, opened in 1975 offers 1000 square feet of exhibition space and has exhibited numerous artists including Peter Voulkos, Deborah Butterfield, Roy DeForest, Mel Ramos, Manuel Neri, and Richard Shaw. Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years or older presently residing in the United States. Works executed between 2009 and 2012 are eligible. Media and size: Original works in all traditional printmaking media including but not limited to intaglio, relief, screen print, lithograph, monotype are eligible. Digital and three-dimensional works are eligible but must incorporate at least one traditional hand-pulled process. Purely photographic images and photomechanical reproductions made of existing works will not be considered. Size of work cannot exceed 30" x 40" frame dimensions. Entry process is entirely through the web-based service BAYVAN, including uploading jpeg images and paying the entry fee. follow the instruction at the bottom of this page. Entry deadline: April 15th, 2012. Entry fee: $30 per artist up to for three works. $5 is added per each additional work. (Maximum 6 works).

Accepted works should be either hand delivered or shipped by UPS to Diablo Valley College Art Gallery Storage (Room A103), 321 Golf Club Road Pleasant Hill, CA 94523. Shipped works must be prepaid for return shipment, and must arrive by August 6, 2012. Shipped works will be returned after the exhibition in the same cartons in which they were received. Hand Delivery will be accepted on August 15 between 11 am and 4 pm.
Liability: While the art work is in the possession of DVC Art Gallery, insurance coverage is provided. If you wish to have additional liability insurance during transportation, you must provide this by yourself. DVC Art Gallery is not responsible for damage of work improperly framed or packaged. Sales: Unless specified "NFS," all works will be offered for sale. If the price is not indicated, the piece will be considered NFS. The commission to the DVC Art Gallery is 30%. Juror, Archana Horsting is Executive Director and co-founder of Kala Art Institute, Berkeley, California. Established in 1974, Kala has been providing professional studio facilities to artists working in all forms of printmaking, photography, book-arts, installation and digital media by offering access to traditional and digital image-making equipment. The institute serves as a meeting ground where artists from the San Francisco Bay Area and other parts of the world can work together and exchange ideas. On top of her responsibilities at Kala, Archana has been a Visiting Artist at UC Santa Cruz and Mills College, has served as a Site Visitor for the National Endowment for the Arts, and a panelist for the California Arts Council. She has been the juror of numerous print exhibitions, including Los Angeles Printmakers Society 19th National Exhibition, PRINTED, at Cabrillo College, and International Print Exhibition at University of Alberta.
The Art Department provides opportunity for students to explore and refine artistic expression and craftsmanship. The Art Department offers instruction in Studio Art (drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics and sculpture), Art History, and Digital Media. Our programs emphasize the preparation of students to transfer to four-year institutions, the fulfillment of college-wide general education requirements, providing opportunities for economic and workplace development, and life-long learning for overall enrichment of student lives through art.
