Artist Statement:
I love the human form. I am especially interested in its movement through contemporary situations like airports and urban settings.
The surfaces of my paintings reflect my other love, that of the tactile. Textured and active, additive and subtractive, they reveal the history and struggle of each painting’s evolution.
As I add layers of paint, I embrace ambiguity in suggesting the representational and then exploring the boundary of what is actually conveyed. I work to balance the formal elements with my search for time, emotion, and experience.
The result is a sense of motion, that even in these captured moments, all is in flux.
